l & V | Elopement in Ukrainian style. Gold Creek Pond, general area Snoqualmie Pass, WA

It would not have been possible for this elopement to take place if all the stars hadn't aligned. For me, this story illustrates how love can overcome any obstacle.

Hugging couple

L and V, both from Ukraine, have chosen to get married in the midst of the war going on in their home country.

It’s difficult to rejoice in the events of your own life when your family and friends face the consequences of war every day. One of the main reasons the couple chose an elopement over a traditional wedding is the events taking place at home.

The bride and groom also chose traditional Ukrainian embroidered shirts “vyshyvanka” for their wedding attire. Previously, by the pattern on the embroidery, it was possible to find out from which region of Ukraine a person originates. Now the embroidery has become a symbol of independence and freedom not only in Ukraine, but also far beyond its borders.

Thank you so much for choosing me to be your photographer! It was an honor to capture your special day/moment. I truly enjoyed getting to know you both and I am so grateful that you allowed me to be a part of such an important time in your lives.

I hope you cherish these photos for many years to come!
